Top 20 Hottest towns in Spains
1. Bailen, Jaen. Located approx 30km north of Jaen and most famous for the Battle of Bailen of 1808 when the Spanish defeated the French. Bailen has recorded an average high over the past five years of 30.3ºC in August and 30.2ºC in July.
2. Lorca, Murcia. Lorca is an important commercial and tourist centre in Murcia, located 120km from Alicante airport and approximately 60km south west of Murcia town. The town has recorded an average high of 29.9ºC in July and 28.3ºC in August.
3. Bajamar, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Bajamar is located in the north western tip of the island of Tenerife, approximately 7km north west of the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The hottest month for the past 5 years in Bajamar has been September with an average of 29.7ºC, then August with an average top temperature of 27.7ºC. 
4. Elche de la Sierra, Albacete. A traditional Spanish village in the heart of the Sierra del Segura, Elche is situated 630m above sea level. July is the hottest average month in Elche, with a recorded average high of 29.6ºC. Next hottest month is June with 28.2ºC then August with 27.5ºC.
5. Fuentes de Andalucia, Sevilla. Located approximately 60km east of Seville, Fuentes de Andalucia is an agricultural town in the heart of the region of Andalucia. The hottest month on average is August, with an average of 29.6ºC recorded, followed by July with 29.4ºC and 27.7 in June.

Located approximately 50km east of Cordoba capital, Montoro's hottest month recorded over the past 5 years is August, showing an average of 29.4ºC, closely followed by July with 28.4ºC. Average temperature does drop in the Winter with January showing an average of 8.7ºC and December 9.3 ºC.
8. Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz, has recorded June to be, on average, the hottest month over the past 5 years, with an average temperature of 29.3ºC. July is very close behind with 29.2ºC but surprisingly August is on average slightly cooler with 26.8 ºC.

Located in Extremadura, approximately 65km east of Merida and 125km north east of Cordoba, Castuera is famous for producing Turron, a Spanish sweet made of honey and almonds, a little similar to nougat. On average here August is the hottest month, with an average recorded temperature of 29.1ºC. Temperatures drop again in the winter months, with an average recorded temperature in January of 8.6ºC.
10. Almunecar, Granada. The hills inland from Almunecar on the Costa Tropical (south coast of Granada) record their highest temperature in August - 29.1ºC on average. July is next hottest with an average of 28.7ºC. However, protected by the mountains of the Sierra Nevada to the north, the winter months remain mild with lowest average temperature in Almunecar of 14.6 recorded in January.
11. Albondon, Granada. A small town in the Alpujarras (foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, stretching to the southern coast), Albondon is approximately 10km from the south coast. The town's economy is based on agriculture and tourism. On average the hottest month here is August, with an average recorded temperature of 29ºC. Raised 1,015m above sea level, the temperatures here do drop in the winter months. January has had an averate temperature of 8.6ºC over the past 5 years.
12. Villacarillo, Jaen. Located approximately 70km north east of Jaen, the provincial capital, Villacarillo is a small town situated in the National Park of Sierra Cazorla. One claim to fame is that the Spanish cycling race (Tour de España) passes through here on the way from Murcia to Granada. The tour is scheduled to pass through in one of the hottest months, September, which as a recorded average temperature of 24ºC. August, however, is the hottest month with 28.9ºC.
13. Bohonal de Ibor, Caceres. Located in the heart of Extremadura, 170km to the south east of Madrid, this town shows an average temperature of 28.9ºC in July, yet drops to an average of 7.7 in both December and January.
14. Antella, Valencia. A small town in the Ribera Alta of the region of Valencia, Antella is located approximately 50km from Valencia city and the nearest main town is Alcira (20 km). Hottest recorded average temperature is 28.9ºC in August and 28.5ºC in July.
15. Belchite, Zaragosa. Located 40km south east of the provincial capital of Zaragosa, the city was divided into 2 (old and new city) during the Spanish civil war. The old town remains abandoned as a tribute to the war. Hottest recorded month is July with an average recorded temperature of 28.8ºC and temperatures remain high from June to September. Average temperatures drop to 16.6ºC in October and 7.3ºC in December to February.
16. Pinos Puenta, Granada. An Andalucian town located 30km west of Granada capital, Pinos Puente's hottest month on average is July (28.8ºC). June to September remain warm months, but average temperature in January is 7.7ºC.
